All systems we install are to relevant standards and regulations and the manufacturer’s guidelines. FirePro systems are installed quickly and seamlessly into many environments, are easy to integrate and are compliant.

Fire Protection

Fire protection is vital for safeguarding people and property from the devastating effects of fire. Modern fire suppression systems are designed to extinguish fires fast, reduce the risk of injury, loss and environmental damage. One of the most advanced solutions available today is aerosol fire suppression systems. These systems use a specialist aerosol agent to suppress fires efficiently, which is ideal for many environments, including electrical cabinets,  control rooms, and electrical panels. By deploying an aerosol agent, these systems can extinguish fires fast and safely and protect valuable equipment. Their versatility and effectiveness make aerosol fire suppression systems the preferred choice for total fire protection in commercial and industrial applications.

How Does FirePro Condensed Aerosol Work?

FirePro Condensed Aerosol uses chemical and physical action to create chemical reactions that disrupt and extinguish many types of fire. Fire suppression is based on the fire tetrahedron, which consists of four elements: fuel, heat, oxygen and a chemical chain reaction (the fourth element). By introducing Potassium compounds to the fire, FirePro Condensed Aerosol interrupts the chemical chain reaction and disrupts the combustion process at a molecular level, specifically targeting the chain reaction that sustains the flame. The process involves the release of fine aerosol particles that absorb heat and cool, reducing the temperature of the flame and inhibiting the fire. The technology behind condensed aerosol systems allows for suppression by dispersing chemicals that interact with the fuel involved and the oxygen in the protected area. Other fire extinguishing systems, such as inert gas systems, suppress fires by reducing oxygen levels.

These aerosols are generated through advanced technology and are a key component of modern aerosol systems. Condensed aerosols are environmentally friendly and effective for many special hazard applications. The effectiveness of the aerosol system depends on the type of fuel involved and the density of aerosol particles near the flame.

Chemical Action

When a fire is detected, FirePro Condensed Aerosol releases Potassium (K) compounds to interrupt the chemical reactions that sustain fire.

During combustion, many reactions occur with unstable molecules,  ‘radicals’ such as Hydroxide (HO), which maintains the fire. Potassium, released by FirePro Aerosol solutions, reacts with the free radicals to form Potassium Hydroxide (KOH), a stable compound. As the free radical molecules are reduced and become stable compounds, the elements required for the chain reactions cease to exist, and the fire is extinguished.

Additional reactions occur during the dispersion of FirePro Condensed Aerosol Potassium compounds to ensure there is no harm to people or the environment.

Physical Action

Chemical reactions such as the bonding of Potassium and Hydroxides require energy to occur. The fire itself provides the energy for its extinguishing due to the energy in the flames.

Condensed Aerosol Fire Suppression Applications

Condensed aerosol fire suppression systems are highly versatile and can be used in many environments where traditional fire suppression methods may not be suitable. Their compact design allows for easy installation in tight spaces such as electrical cabinets, control panels and rooms where sensitive equipment needs to be protected. They are also suitable for areas with high-risk machinery or where space is at a premium. Because of their efficient design, aerosol fire suppression systems offer a cost-effective solution without compromise on safety or performance. Installation is straightforward, and maintenance requirements are minimal; systems have a life of up to 15 years. This makes condensed aerosol fire suppression an excellent choice for organisations looking for reliable low maintenance fire protection across many applications.

Environmental Footprint of Fire Suppression

Aerosol fire suppression systems have a minimal environmental impact. Unlike some traditional fire suppression systems that use carbon dioxide or other gases with high global warming potential, aerosol fire suppression systems use an extinguishing agent that is non-toxic and does not contribute to ozone depletion or global warming. These systems are designed to have zero ozone depletion potential and zero global warming potential, making them a responsible choice for organisations looking to reduce their environmental footprint. Additionally, aerosol fire suppression systems produce little to no residue, minimising the risk of environmental contamination and simplifying post-discharge clean-up. By choosing aerosol fire suppression, businesses can have effective fire protection and support sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Aerosol Fire Suppression System Maintenance

Regular maintenance is key to an aerosol fire suppression system performing as expected in a fire. Maintenance routines should include thorough checks of all electrical connections, wiring connections and linkage joints to ensure the system will activate and extinguish fires when needed. Visually inspect each fire extinguishing device for damage or missing components and verify all devices are unobstructed and have space to operate in the protected room. Scheduled inspections keep the system effective and reliable, ensuring all components are in optimal working condition. By following a regular maintenance schedule, organisations can get the most out of their aerosol fire suppression systems and have peace of mind and robust fire protection.

FirePro Condensed Aerosol Benefits

Rapid Fire Suppression through better solutions.

As accredited installers of FirePro products, Sovereign Extinguishing understand and endorses the many benefits of the FirePro system.

FirePro Condensed Aerosol systems can be automatic or manual, including via a control panel for rapid activation and response in critical situations. These fire extinguishing systems can be used as total flooding systems, protecting the entire protected area by dispersing the extinguishing agent throughout the space. FirePro Condensed Aerosol is suitable for special hazard applications, where sensitive equipment or unique fire risks exist. The system can be installed in many environments and maintains safe oxygen levels while suppressing fires, unlike some carbon dioxide gas systems. FirePro Condensed Aerosol is a modern fire extinguishing system for many applications.

FirePro Condensed Aerosol is a ‘green’ product, no special pressurising required and allows a larger allowable leakage area while still being effective.

FirePro systems have a 15-year life, 5 years more than Gas Systems, which require hydrostatic testing after 10 years.
