Passive Fire Protection

As additional services to our customers, Sovereign Extinguishing can offer ancillary products and services to enhance your building’s Fire Protection.

Gas Suppression System Room Sealing

As a mandatory requirement, all rooms fitted with Gas Fire Suppression must have a Room Integrity Test (have a look at our RIT Section), and the main purpose of this test is to make sure that the gas, if discharged, will remain in the room for a minimum of 10 mins (referred to as the Hold Time) as described in the applicable standards. In the event that the Hold Time is less than 10 mins, then Room Sealing Works will need to be carried out in order to improve the Hold Time to above 10 mins. Sovereign Extinguishing offer both the Room Integrity Test and also the required sealing works in order that your room stays compliant, and more importantly the system is effective if discharged.

Room Pressure Venting

On the flipside of the services offered to the left, the room that your Gas Suppression is installed in may be too well sealed. The danger here is that if the Gas Suppression System discharges, then the spike in room pressure could cause the integrity of the room (seals, windows, doorframes, doors etc) could be damaged. Sovereign Extinguishing can measure this risk using a Room Integrity Test and can supply and also install a Pressure Relief Damper to remove this danger, again removing possible damage and ensuring both compliance and effectiveness of your system.

Room Fire Stopping

Sovereign Extinguishing can also perform Fire Stopping services to repair and maintain your fire barriers to current Building Regulations which includes Fire Barrier Stopping, Fire Cavity Barriers and also Structural Steel Fire Protection. Our engineers are FIRAS, BRE LPS1531 & LPS1197 and IFE registered, and log all works onto a sophisticated traceability system.

Fire/Smoke Ductwork Dampers

Similarly, Sovereign Extinguishing can also offer the inspection, testing and maintenance of existing Fire/Smoke Ductwork Dampers, as well as the fitment of new and the testing/modification/repair of existing installations. Ductwork cleaning can also be undertaken if required.

Passive Fire Protection FAQs

Passive fire protection (PFP) involves using materials and systems that contain or slow the spread of fire and smoke, such as fire-rated walls, doors, seals, and coatings.

It’s essential for maintaining building safety, protecting escape routes, and ensuring your property complies with UK Building Regulations. PFP also gives emergency services valuable time to respond.

We offer a full range of solutions, including fire-stopping barriers, intumescent coatings, fire doors, and compartmentation systems, all tailored to your building’s unique design.

We recommend annual inspections, or more frequently if your property undergoes structural changes. Our specialists ensure every component continues to perform as designed.

Our team can assess your current protection measures and upgrade them where needed. Get in touch today to arrange a professional inspection and ensure your building remains safe and compliant.
